As the landmark of the Bytíz uranium mine area, the mine shaft tower is not visible at the entrance, which drew my attention to this existing site issue and became the starting point of the design. The location of the mine shaft tower on the mountain reminded me of Louis Kahn’s statement about the relationship between the Parthenon and its site: "You choose a mountain, build the temple, and then all the other hills pay their respects to it." This site is similar, with the mine shaft tower acting like the Parthenon within the site, and all other buildings paying their respects to it. Therefore, the visitor center makes way for the mine shaft tower to have its rightful visibility, following the contour of the mountain in a stepped arrangement, guiding people's gaze toward the tower while creating both horizontal and vertical complementarity with it (from Spirit of the Site Prague edition). The dialogue between the building and the mine shaft tower runs throughout the entire design: something that is visible but out of reach, something that is both visible and within reach, and ultimately standing below it, gazing upward—either understanding or awakening to the spirit of the site. The architectural narrative starting from the tower can also be seen as an experiment.
